A LONG HISTORY
Africa Power Services is the energy subsidiary of the Delmas Investissements et Participations group. The company started its activity in February 2021, but the adventure began much longer ago. Today, the experience and skills of our teams are the testimony.
FROM 1853
FIRST STEPS IN AFRICA AND IN ENERGY
The first company of the Delmas family was founded in Saint Louis, Senegal in 1853. At the time, it was a trading post business (peanuts, hardware, and rubber) which, over time, diversified while keeping the African continent as its place of activity.
From 1932 onwards, the family group’s activity received a new impetus with the signing of the representation of the Caterpillar brand in 11 West African countries via its subsidiary JA Delmas. In addition to mining and construction machinery, Caterpillar also manufactures generators sets. A small team dedicated to energy was set up at JA Delmas to ensure sales. It becomes apparent that to develop their activities, mining and industrial companies need complete and efficient power plants. These power plants require specific know-how and in-depth technical expertise.
A new chapter in our history begins in 1999…
1999 – 2020
Africa Power Systems was born in 1999. It was a joint venture between the two Caterpillar dealers, JA Delmas and Tractafric Equipment. The two companies chose to combine their know-how in the EPC (1) business to meet the new needs of their customers.

In 2020, faced with growing demand, JA Delmas and Tractafric Equipment chose to become independent and manage this activity autonomously, leading to the dissolution of Africa Power Systems.
Delmas Investissements et Participations then decided to go further in the professionalization of the group in the energy field by creating a structure dedicated to this activity with a new name…
2021
CREATION OF AFRICA POWER SERVICES AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES
In 2021, JA Delmas transfers the EPC activity of power plants based on semi-rapid engines to a new dedicated company: Africa Power Services.
The name of this subsidiary reflects the repositioning of the activity. In addition to the historical EPC and EPCM (2) activities, the development of diversified services has been added to support our customers in the success of their energy challenges. From the simple supply of spare parts to complete operation and maintenance contracts, through plant leasing, technical assistance, consulting, supervision, and training, Africa Power Services is now a provider of solutions as well as services associated with energy production.
The majority of the Africa Power Systems teams has joined Africa Power Services, thus retaining the skills and experience forged over the past 20 years. To be closer to our customers’ projects, the first subsidiaries in Burkina Faso and Mali have been created.
