OUR PROJECTS
Africa Power Services meets your energy challenges!
Below are some examples of our completed projects.
Gold mine • Loulo, Mali
Continuous power generation on a remote site
- 80 MW Thermal (HFO and LFO)
- 72 MWp Photovoltaic
- 28 MW / 15 MWh BESS
- Power/Energy Management System (PMS/EMS)
Our client has trusted us since 2004. Originally designed to be scalable, the power plant was developed in several stages: first thermal (2004–2020), then hybridised in 2020 with the addition of a first solar field. In 2023, two new solar fields and a battery energy storage system (BESS) were integrated. Today, all energy sources are managed by an energy management system (PMS/EMS), ensuring optimised and flexible production.
Gold mine • Bomboré, Burkina Faso
Grid-connected power generation
- 10 MW Thermal (LFO) – Rental, on a remote site then connected to the unstable national grid
- 18 MW Thermal (LFO) – EPC as grid support
In 2022, APS was engaged to resolve repeated power outages that were affecting mine production. A 10 MW thermal rental power plant with O&M was deployed, installed, and commissioned in one month, stabilising the site’s power supply. In 2023, during the mine’s connection to the national grid, APS ensured generator synchronization to maintain continuity of service. In 2025, the client renewed their trust by awarding APS the EPC contract for an 18 MW thermal power plant to support the grid.
Gold Mine • Kibali, Democratic Republic of Congo
Continuous power generation on a remote site
- 33 MW Thermal (HFO and LFO)
- 19 MWp Photovoltaic
- 15 MW / 30 MWh BESS (PV) + 10 MW / 5 MWh (Stability)
We have been supporting our client since 2010. The first phase consisted of installing a 33 MW thermal power plant to ensure continuous power generation on a remote site. In order to reduce its environmental footprint while optimizing energy costs, the mine then initiated a transition toward a more sustainable energy mix. In 2018, a 10 MW battery energy storage system was integrated to stabilize the grid in response to significant load variations. In 2024, APS delivered a 19 MWp photovoltaic power plant coupled with a 15 MW BESS.
Iron mine • Zouerat, Mauritania
Continuous power generation on a remote site
- 12 MW Thermal (LFO) – Rental
- 30 MW Thermal (HFO) – EPC
- Long-term Operation & Maintenance contract
In order to meet the growing electricity demand of the mining operations, APS deployed a phased and secure solution. A 12 MW thermal rental power plant was first mobilized in 2023 to ensure power supply during the construction phase. In 2024, APS delivered the EPC of a 30 MW thermal power plant. Since commissioning in 2025, APS has been providing operation and maintenance services, ensuring reliable and continuous long-term power generation.
A logistical achievement in the heart of the Sahara desert
Deep in the Sahara Desert, the construction of the Zouerate power plant represented an exceptional logistical challenge.
The three 80-ton engines, along with all their associated equipment, were transported by train from the port of Nouadhibou over nearly 700 km.
The train carried them to the powerhouse via a railway extension specifically built for this project.
Their final installation by a specialized heavy-lifting team illustrates APS’s ability to deliver complex energy projects in the most demanding environments.
Gold mine • Boto, Senegal
Continuous power generation on a remote site
- 7 MW Thermal (LFO) – Rental
- 22 MW Thermal (HFO and LFO) – EPC
- Bridging Power (uninterrupted power supply)
On this remote mining site, during its development phase the client required an energy solution capable of scaling in line with the mine’s growth. APS first deployed a 7 MW rental power plant to ensure immediate power supply. In parallel, our teams designed, constructed, and commissioned a 22 MW thermal power plant to support the project’s long-term expansion. The transition from the rental phase to the permanent facility was completed without any interruption to production. The plant now delivers optimized power generation aligned with the mine’s growth strategy.
Gold mine • Boungou, Burkina Faso
Continuous power generation on a remote site
- 15 MW Thermal (HFO and LFO) – EPC
- Long-term Operation & Maintenance contract
In 2018, APS delivered the EPC of the 15 MW thermal power plant at the Boungou mine to ensure continuous power generation on a remote site. This project forms part of a trusted and ongoing partnership with the client, who had already engaged APS for previous developments. Since 2019, APS has been providing Operation and Maintenance (O&M) services for the plant, relying on continuous improvement processes aimed at optimizing operational performance, enhancing reliability, and maintaining cost control.
